January 2009

Dear New Members and Renewal Members:

Welcome and/or Welcome Back!

Your commitment to the profession of counseling is to be commended. By joining DCA or renewing your membership, you offer support for the ongoing efforts of our grass roots organization to promote the profession in a number of ways.

As an active and viable professional organization, DCA strives to increase public awareness of the counseling profession, mentor other counselors or counselors-in-training, promote continuing education events, offer opportunities to network with other like-minded professionals, facilitate the development of leadership qualities in its members, and provide a vehicle for all counselors (students, novices, and experienced) to clearly identify with our common philosophy for the good of the public and the good of the profession.

DCA invites you to enjoy informative professional presentations on a variety of relevant topics by attending our quarterly general meetings where you will also receive NBCC approved CEU credits for no charge. In addition, DCA co-sponsors an annual conference focused in greater depth on current topics in the field of counseling. As a member you receive a reduced registration fee to attend this event.

DCA offers you opportunities to network with other helping professionals and organizations through our participation in jointly sponsored educational and other related events in the community.

DCA encourages you to develop your counseling skills and abilities by soliciting your attendance at regularly scheduled peer case consultation sessions.

DCA helps you to reach out and care for the broader local community through the sponsorship of ongoing public service projects in which you can become involved.

DCA assists the development of your leadership potential through supporting member attendance at leadership training sessions at the regional and national meetings of the American Counseling Association (ACA). Through its affiliation with ACA, DCA acts as a conduit for information about and advocacy for the profession of counseling at the national level.

DCA not only needs your financial support, we need your active participation so that our viability can be maintained. Our potential as a group and your potential as an individual member can only be reached if you engage in these efforts with us.

I personally look forward to meeting you (or seeing you again).

Sincerely,
Craig Williams
